Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and the independent developer of Video Notes for YouTube (“we,” “us,” “our”). By installing, accessing, or using the Extension or this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.

If you are using the Extension on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.

Video Notes for YouTube is a browser extension that lets you take timestamped notes on YouTube videos, capture screenshots, search and organize notes, and export them. Notes and related content are stored locally on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Extension for your own note-taking purposes. This licence does not transfer any ownership rights to you.

You may not, except to the extent permitted by applicable law: (a) resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the Extension as your own product; (b) misrepresent the origin of the Extension; or (c) circumvent, disable, or tamper with the Pro licensing mechanism.

The Extension offers an optional paid “Pro” tier that unlocks additional features. Pricing is shown at the point of purchase.

Payment processing. Payments are collected and processed by a third-party payment processor, not by us directly. Your purchase is also subject to that processor's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase unless stated otherwise at checkout.

Refunds. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact us at the address in Section 15. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis and may also be subject to the payment processor's refund procedures and to any non-waivable rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of your country or state.

Availability. Pro features depend on the Extension functioning correctly with your browser and with YouTube, neither of which we control. We do not guarantee that any specific feature will remain available indefinitely.

When you purchase Pro, you receive a license key that you enter into the Extension to unlock Pro features. To activate and periodically verify your license, the Extension sends your license key and a randomly generated installation identifier to our license server, as described in the Privacy Policy. You agree not to share, publish, or resell your license key. License keys may be limited to a certain number of activations or installations.

You agree to use the Extension only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms, applicable laws, and the terms of any platform on which you use it (including YouTube's and Google's terms). You agree not to use the Extension to infringe others' rights, to reverse engineer it except as permitted by law, or to interfere with its security features.

The notes, screenshots, and other content you create with the Extension are yours. They are stored locally on your device, and we do not claim any ownership of them. Because this content stays on your device, you are solely responsible for backing it up; we cannot recover it for you if it is lost, for example if you uninstall the Extension or clear your browser data.

The Extension, this website, and their original content, features, name, and branding are and remain our property or that of our licensors, and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our name, logo, or branding without prior written permission, except as needed to use the Extension normally.

The Extension operates on YouTube, a service owned by Google, and relies on a third-party payment processor for Pro purchases. We are not responsible for the content, policies, availability, or practices of these third parties. Your use of YouTube and of the payment processor is governed by their own terms and policies.

The Extension and website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

We do not warrant that the Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with future versions of your browser or YouTube, or that defects will be corrected. You use the Extension at your own discretion and risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Extension or website.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Extension will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Pro tier in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) ten US dollars (US$10). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you, and nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your licence, including Pro access, if you materially breach these Terms or misuse the licensing mechanism. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.

We may modify the Extension or these Terms from time to time. When we change these Terms, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be noted in the Extension's release notes. Your continued use of the Extension after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Turkey will have jurisdiction over any disputes, except where mandatory law in your country or state of residence provides otherwise. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of the place where you live, including, for residents of the United States, any non-waivable rights under applicable state and federal law.
